My favorite Mexican restaurant in the whole region. Everything is delicious and authentic, the service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I always order chicken tacos instead of beef and they do not skimp on the meat! The fajitas are great also.

Clean, good food and great service I'm adding a star! Been coming here a lot more and they just get better and better! Love the food and service!

It's Indiana....so, Mexican food isn't the best invention ever. However, this did the trick! The staff was great and the service was fast. The chips were fresh and the salsa was a little bland. My meal did the trick, but yeah, not Cali style at all. Maybe I should open my own place when I move to the Midwest? Oh the opportunity to show these people some good Mexican food!

If you order the healthier way (chicken instead of beef), you will walk away feeling they gave you enough chicken in your food to feed a small village! Not complaining! The staff was extremely friendly (been there 3 times now) and that makes a huge difference to me. It is a very roomy, clean restaurant, and very family friendly. I also had a margarita the last time and it did not disappoint.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants and great for that weekday night when you don't want to cook. I usually order La Favorita platter and eat too many chips before it arrives. Family members vouch for several other items on the menu. The staff is cordial and take time to explain any specials. Not high cuisine or a theme-park Mexican interior, just good food.

Went here with a groupon. The chips amd salsa were a very good sign, delicious. My wife and i both ordered burritos, both delicious. Dessert? We split a cheesecake loaded with chocolate and raspberry sauce, the only thing I didn't like, she loved it.

I thought this place was FANTASTIC. I figured I'll try just a STEAK BURRITO and start from there. As soon as I sat down I realized the place wasn't that busy (is this a good sign?) so that means service should be pretty fast - and it was. The host sat me down, I asked if they served alcohol. The host informed me that they DID NOT serve alcohol, but their licensed was coming April 1st. I ordered a Pepsi and just a STEAK BURRITO and waited with a basket of tortilla chips and a bowl of salsa that was almost instantly brought to the table. When the STEAK BURRITO came it looked and smelled delicious. I cut it open and took a picture. When I took that first bite I was surprised to see that AVOCADO was added to my STEAK BURRITO...that never happens. AVOCADO is usually an extra fifty cents to one dollar when added to a STEAK BURRITO. This didn't cost anything extra...RIGHT ON! I'll definitely be back (that's for sure) and I recommend this Mexican restaurant to any person who loves a Mexican cuisine.

This is a fantastic little mexican restaurant. I have eaten here many times and am never disappointed! I love their steak tacos. The queso is amazing. I always leave very full, but I never have to spend a ton of money.

Looked for mexican last night, this place is right around the corner. Stopped in to order take out and everyone was very helpful. Food was ready very quickly. I had the Snapper tacos. The shells were fresh, everything was very good. Wife had the Quesadilla Fajita. She loved it. Beans and rice were good, Chips were fresh, some were a tad undercooked. Salsa was great, just not enough of it! Next time i don't feel like cooking we will be calling an order in!

I have been here several times and the place always seems relatively busy. The food is pretty good, but I have noticed that it's not a very clean establishment. Also, the long brown strand of hair that my mother in law found in the salsa was gross. I don't think we will be going back.

Pretty good food. Probably the best Mexican restaurant you'll find in the area. It'll be even better once they get their liquor license back again.....they let it expire :-( It's hard to have mexican food without a margarita!!

Ehhhhh not worth 4 stars. Shredded chicken tasted fishy? Steak Burrito tastes little strange? Service slow. Where's our check? 2 stars because the guacamole was good!

I've lived in Chicago for over 30 years and had access to great authentic Mexican food all over the city. This restaraunt is nothing more than a suped up Taco Bell. Ordered ground beef sopes and the meat was obviously the rehydrated fake stuff. Couldn't even give me real beef. Avoid this place unless you want horribly inauthentic Mexican food. The tamales weren't even in the husks! C'mon!!

I really enjoyed my experience at LA Quesadilla. I got the Pollo Loco, and it was delicious! Rice, chicken, and queso sauce with chips... Yummm. Loved the Sangria as well, went on a Tuesday night and the Sangria was half price :) The prices were typical of Mexican restaurants in the area about $10 for an entre and about $2.75 for a taco al a carte. I would recommend it and will definitely be going back.

we knew that we would be spending 3 days in Cedar Lake, dog sitting, so my wife bought a Groupon for La Quesadilla. We went on Friday night and the place was busy, we were seated right away and started with the usual chips and salsa, thats when we knew were on to something special. The salsa was GREAT and so was everything else. The server was wonderful and on the way out I met the owner. It is located next to the Alsip Nursery, and being from Alsip Illinois, I explained to the server how it gots its name. Will it be worth another trip from Alsip to St. John's , you better believe we will be back

if i could give this place 0 stars i would. spoiled meat, cold microwaved meals...... what are the customers who gave this place raving reviews thinking. it was horrible.

I'm originally from the region and visit family often. Each time we visit, we make it a point to go to our favorite restaurant! Absolutely love the tamales so much that we frequently get a dozen to take back home with us. They freeze well. We've never had a bad meal. Staff is super friendly and attentive.

Ok food. Ok service. Fried fish tacos were over fried. It wasn't bad, it just wasn`t good.

We always enjoy our food from here. The wait staff has always been friendly and quick. I do like that the decor is a little more on the clean side. A lot of Mexican places will have all sorts of decorations hanging, and have some wood design all around; this place is a bit more subdued. The menu itself is pretty comparable and the prices competitive to other restaurants of the type. Since it's close and convenient for us, we come here regularly. If you're in the area and have a taste for Mexican, stop in.

nice people, but horribly bland food. My chicken burrito had chicken with the texture of canned tuna fish, and my daughter's meal was covered in some white glop that looked like alfredo sauce. Is this the best NW indiana can do for mexican food? Gawd I hope not.

Amazing queso dip! Friendly staff, excellent authentic Mexican food and margaritas. Clean newer build, yet festive decor. Nice stop along our road trip!

A great local place in an area that borders on restaurant desert. I had the chicken taco salad and it was excellent! The prices were great ($6.99) and chips and salsa free and homemade. We looked at our options on yelp and this one was a winner! Great service and food was out quickly-they even added beans to my salad no extra charge. Stop in!!

Im obsessed with this place. I live in the city (chicago) and Im so sad I dont have one closer. I have friends who live in NW IN so whenever I come visit we go here. The steak quesadilla is to die for, and their queso cannot be beat. Their salsa hits the spot every time, and let me just say the owner is fabulous. He is so nice, always checks on the guests and asks if everything is ok. Never had a bad meal. Have eaten here maybe 20 times and will continue to make the once-a-month trip with my roomate from the city for our "special dinner" here :) Ever since I brought her back some leftovers.. she begs me to take us there once a month lol. If you want a nice meal worth every penny (and cheap too.. compared to most places).. go here. I ordered a quesadilla at Blue Agave and Su Casa in the city, my meal was 20+.. but when i came here, my roomie and I could both get meals and drinks for 30. THATS what I am talkin about. :) I need one of these places in chicago.... asap.

The portions were small but the flavor was next to nothing.I had a pork burrito it was way less meat than a Chipolte but twice the price. I don't know how many more poor Mexican restaurant our area can handle but this add to the ranks. Oh well guess I will continue to trek up El Taco or many others in the harbor.

This is a nice clean and friendly local Mexican place. Service is always prompt and the food always hot. We eat here probably about 3 times a month at least. I really like their kids menu which has American and Mexican food available. My younger son, who doesn't usually like Mexican food, loves some of their kid friendly Mexican dishes. Finally we have a Mexican place we can all go to!!

Going out for Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo is crazy but we gave this little store front eatery a try and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was young and energetic. Our margharitas came out immediatley and were excellent. You could actually taste the tequilla unlike some local Mexican joints. Our food took awhie but was worth the wait. It was very, very hot. The beef fajitas were excellent with lots of large pieces of pepper and onion. We had a combo plate with chili rellenos, tostados and chimmichunga. It was all way too much food and we had at least one more meal for two. The tab came to $42 plus tip. Not bad for 4 margharitas and two dinners. And yep, the owner was a really nice guy!

My favorite Mexican restaurant -- period. I recommend their carnitas and their chicken quesadilla. =) The owners are also extremely nice people. One time, my family and I had stopped by with the intention of having dinner there, but there was a sign on the door that said that they were closed for a private party. So we headed back over to the car, but before we had a chance to get back in the car and leave, the owner called us back and let us in. The owner was having a birthday party for his mother at the restaurant, and he allowed us to join them! How nice is that, right? So yeah, I like to eat here whenever I can. ;-)

I have eaten here about 15 times, never had a bad meal. This is my go to place for good Mexican food. They recently switched to Pepsi products from Coke, but despite that abomination, I will remain faithful.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
